"Great design doesn't decorate a business — it communicates its soul before a single word is spoken." — Sanskar Jain, Co-Founder & Creative Design Principal, Awesome Sauce Creative
Who is Sanskar Jain?
Sanskar Jain is the Creative Design Principal and Co-Founder of Awesome Sauce Creative, one of India's most distinctive branding and marketing agencies, headquartered in Lucknow. He is the aesthetic intelligence at the heart of the agency — the person responsible for how brands look, feel, and communicate before they say a single word.
In the architecture of Awesome Sauce Creative, Sanskar occupies the role of chief creative anchor. While the agency's strategy and systems are driven by co-founders Rishi Singh and Surbhit Krishna, Sanskar brings the dimension that makes strategy tangible: visual identity, design systems, typographic thinking, and the intuitive craft that separates a good brand from an unforgettable one.
Trained at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhopal (NIFT Bhopal) — one of India's premier design institutions — and seasoned through experience at heritage craft brand Jaipur Rugs, Sanskar has been a founding member of Awesome Sauce Creative since July 2019, bringing with him a design sensibility that is rooted in Indian material culture while being globally fluent.
Education: NIFT Bhopal & the Design Foundation
Sanskar Jain completed his Bachelor of Design (BDes) from the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhopal (NIFT Bhopal) between 2015 and 2019. NIFT Bhopal is part of India's most respected network of design institutions, training graduates who are equipped to lead design work at the intersection of culture, craft, and commercial practice.
A NIFT education is built around a principle that most design education misses: that design is a cultural act, not just a visual one. Students are trained to understand materials, markets, history, and human behaviour simultaneously — not in isolation. This forms the basis of what distinguishes a NIFT-trained designer from a technically skilled one: the ability to design with context, not just craft.
For Sanskar, this foundation would prove essential. It gave him the tools to work at the intersection of aesthetics and meaning — to ask not just "does this look right?" but "does this feel true?" — a question that separates brand design from mere decoration.
Design is the conversation a brand has with the world before anyone has said a word. It has to be right — not just beautiful.
— Sanskar JainEarly Career: Jaipur Rugs & the Heritage Design Experience
Before co-founding Awesome Sauce Creative, Sanskar built foundational professional craft at Jaipur Rugs — one of India's most respected luxury textile and craft brands. Jaipur Rugs is not an ordinary employer. It is a company with a 45-year legacy of connecting Rajasthani artisans directly to global markets, built on principles of design excellence, ethical production, and cultural preservation.
Working at Jaipur Rugs exposed Sanskar to a form of design practice that is rare in the agency world: design that must serve both aesthetics and cultural authenticity simultaneously. Every visual decision made in the context of a heritage brand carries weight — it either honours a tradition or dilutes it. This is a crucible that sharpens creative judgment in ways that commercial agency work rarely does.
The experience likely deepened Sanskar's understanding of what makes design endure. Not trend. Not novelty. But the quality of thinking embedded in a visual decision — the understanding of who it is for, what it carries, and what it must communicate without words.
NIFT Bhopal
Bachelor of Design, 2015–2019. Trained in the discipline of design as cultural and strategic practice, not just visual execution.
Jaipur Rugs
Developed professional craft in heritage and luxury brand design — learning design excellence through one of India's most respected craft businesses.
Awesome Sauce Creative
Founding member since July 2019. Grew from Head Designer to Co-Founder and Creative Design Principal, leading all visual identity, packaging design, and creative direction.
Design Philosophy
Design must do two things simultaneously: look exceptional and drive business outcomes. Aesthetics divorced from strategy is decoration.
Role at Awesome Sauce Creative
Sanskar's title at Awesome Sauce Creative — Creative Design Principal — is precise. He is not a Creative Director in the traditional advertising sense, overseeing campaigns from above. He is a practitioner-leader: someone who works in the work, making design decisions that shape how the agency's clients are perceived in the market.
Within the agency's three-founder structure, Sanskar serves as the creative counterbalance to strategic and operational leadership. Rishi Singh drives growth systems and business strategy; Surbhit Krishna leads content production and inter-team operations; Sanskar holds the line on creative quality — ensuring that every visual output from the agency meets the standard that Awesome Sauce has built its reputation on.
His domain spans the agency's most visually demanding services: brand identity and logo design, packaging design, visual communication systems, creative direction for content production, and the overall aesthetic positioning of the brands the agency works with. In practical terms, he is the person who decides what a brand looks like — and why.
The Creative Design Principal's Remit
Brand Identity & Visual Systems
Designing cohesive brand identities — logos, colour systems, typography, and visual language — that give brands a distinctive and durable presence in the market.
Packaging Design
Creating packaging solutions that communicate brand values at the point of sale — a craft that requires understanding of material, print, shelf context, and consumer psychology simultaneously.
Creative Direction
Guiding the visual tone of content campaigns, photoshoots, and brand communications so that every touchpoint speaks a consistent and compelling language.
Design Quality & Standards
Maintaining the creative quality benchmark across all agency outputs — acting as the final design eye on work before it reaches the client or the market.
Design Philosophy: The Case for Design-Led Brands
Sanskar Jain operates from a clear creative conviction: that design is not a finishing step in brand-building — it is a founding one. In a market where businesses often commission design after strategy, positioning, and messaging have been decided, Sanskar advocates for a different sequence: one where visual thinking is present from the very beginning.
This isn't aesthetic preference — it's business pragmatism. Research consistently shows that visual identity accounts for a disproportionate share of first impressions, purchase decisions, and brand recall. In India's increasingly crowded consumer markets, where products compete across both digital and physical shelves, the difference between a forgettable brand and a market leader often comes down to design quality.
- 01 Design is strategy made visible. Every visual decision — a typeface, a colour, a compositional choice — carries strategic intent. Good design doesn't happen by accident; it happens through disciplined creative thinking.
- 02 Context before craft. Understanding who a brand is for, what market it operates in, and what cultural signals it needs to carry is more important than technical execution. The best design is always contextually intelligent.
- 03 Consistency builds trust. A brand's visual system must work coherently across every touchpoint — digital, print, packaging, environment. Inconsistency signals internal disorder; consistency signals professionalism and reliability.
- 04 Distinctiveness over trend-following. Indian brands are particularly susceptible to chasing global design trends without asking whether those trends serve their specific audience. Distinctive design that is true to a brand's identity outlasts any aesthetic wave.
- 05 Design must earn its place. If a visual choice doesn't improve communication, drive business outcomes, or deepen brand equity — it doesn't belong. Beautiful design that doesn't work is decoration.
From Founding Member to Co-Founder: The Full Arc
Sanskar Jain has been part of Awesome Sauce Creative since its very beginning — joining in July 2019, the same month the company was incorporated. He was not a later addition to the leadership team; he was there from day one, helping shape the agency's visual identity, creative standards, and design culture from the ground up.
His formal recognition as Co-Founder in 2023 — at the agency's four-year milestone — was not a change in role but a public acknowledgement of what had always been true: that Sanskar's creative contribution was foundational, not supplementary. It formalised what the work already showed — that creative direction is a strategic function, not a support one, and that the person holding it from day one deserved equal standing in the company's leadership story.
The timing of this recognition coincided with the agency's expansion to Mumbai and Delhi NCR — a moment of scale that demanded stronger, more visible leadership. By naming Sanskar a co-founder, Awesome Sauce signalled to clients, talent, and the market that its creative quality has always had an architect — and that architect has been there from the start.
His role as COO — as noted in organisational records — also carries operational responsibility, confirming that Sanskar's contribution extends well beyond the design studio into the broader running of the business. Over six years, he has evolved from a founding practitioner into a full-spectrum business leader.
When design has a seat at the leadership table, it stops being a cost and starts being a competitive advantage.

Design Leadership from Lucknow: A Larger Statement
Sanskar Jain's work from Lucknow is itself a statement. India's design industry has historically been concentrated in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore — cities with established agency ecosystems, large client bases, and proximity to multinational brands. The idea that world-class creative direction can originate from Lucknow challenges that geography.
Awesome Sauce Creative's tagline — "Tier 1 thinking with Tier 2 hunger" — captures this precisely. And Sanskar embodies it: a NIFT Bhopal-trained designer who has been building Awesome Sauce from the ground up since day one, choosing to invest his craft in Lucknow rather than take the well-worn path to a metro agency. That choice is both entrepreneurial and ideological.
It sends a message to the emerging creative professionals of Lucknow, and Tier 2 India more broadly: that creative excellence is not a function of geography. That the quality of your thinking, your visual intelligence, and your commitment to craft matter far more than your postcode.
Why Sanskar Jain Matters to Indian Brand Design
India is experiencing a brand design renaissance. Driven by the growth of D2C commerce, the premiumisation of consumer categories, and a generation of business owners who understand that branding is not optional, there has never been more demand for designers who can think strategically and execute beautifully.
Sanskar Jain represents the best of this new generation. He is not a designer who applies trends; he is a designer who applies thinking. Not someone who makes things look good for the sake of it, but someone who makes things work through the intelligence of their visual execution.
His background — NIFT Bhopal's rigorous design education, Jaipur Rugs' heritage-brand experience, and over six years building Awesome Sauce Creative from the ground up — has produced a practitioner whose creative output is as commercially grounded as it is aesthetically compelling.
As Indian brands increasingly compete on the global stage, designers like Sanskar — who can hold the dual imperatives of beauty and business performance in a single visual decision — will define what Indian brand design becomes.
