6 things you'll master
in 18 hours

01
Light — the one skill that changes everything
Natural vs. artificial, hard vs. soft. Understand the physics of light before you touch a reflector. You'll build two DIY lighting setups by end of session — and never shoot in bad light again.
02
Composition & visual hierarchy
Flat lays, angles, negative space, and the rule of thirds — but the real version, not the YouTube version. Learn how composition guides the customer's eye straight to the product.
03
Product styling & surface selection
Backgrounds, textures, props, and the art of making nothing look like everything. Understand how styling communicates brand tone — from D2C skincare to artisan food.
04
Camera & phone settings — demystified
Whether you're shooting DSLR or iPhone 15 Pro, we teach you to work with what you have. Manual mode, depth of field, white balance, and why your auto settings are lying to you.
05
Post-production & colour grading
Lightroom or mobile editing — build a consistent look across a brand's entire product catalogue. Batch presets, product retouching, and the exact export settings brands actually need.
06
Delivery, pricing & client process
Shot lists, client briefs, deliverable formats, and real freelance pricing. Learn to charge what the work is worth — and back it up with a process that builds trust.

3 weeks.
Zero fluff.

Every session is designed so you arrive, shoot something real, and leave with portfolio-ready images. No theory-only days. The studio is set up and waiting.

Week 01 · 2 Sessions · 6 hrs
See — Light, Eye & Visual Foundations
+
Session 1 — Understanding light & the product photographer's eye
  • What separates product photography from just "photos of products" — the mindset shift
  • Light anatomy: direction, quality, intensity, colour temperature explained from scratch
  • Natural light setups: window angles, bounce cards, diffusers — building your first studio on a budget
  • Studio walkthrough: seeing the existing setup with fresh eyes, understanding what each element does
  • Shooting exercise: photograph the same product 6 ways using only natural light
Session 2 — Composition, styling & brand-aware framing
  • Composition rules for products: 1/3rds, leading lines, negative space, visual entry points
  • Styling vocabulary: surfaces, backgrounds, props, colour harmony in product scenes
  • Brand tone through photography: how Mamaearth, Sleepy Owl & Forest Essentials use light differently
  • Live styling exercise: build 3 product scenes using props in the studio, then critique together
  • Camera/phone settings: exposure triangle, ISO discipline, manual white balance
Week 1 Deliverable
6-image natural light series · 3 styled product scenes with distinct moods · camera settings reference sheet built from your own shoot
Week 02 · 2 Sessions · 6 hrs
Shoot — Studio Lighting, Angles & Controlled Sets
+
Session 3 — Studio lighting: from one source to full setups
  • Artificial lighting types: continuous vs. flash, softboxes, ring lights, snoots, and when to use each
  • Light ratios, fill ratios, and the 3-point setup for products — what changes when you add a source
  • Controlling shadows and reflections: the hardest part of product photography, made systematic
  • Shooting glass, reflective & transparent products — the techniques professionals charge extra to know
  • Each student builds a controlled 2-light setup and shoots a full product sequence
Session 4 — Angles, shot types & building a full shot list
  • The 7 must-have product angles every e-commerce client needs
  • Hero shots, lifestyle context, detail macros, and packaging shots — shooting for the full brief
  • Shot list construction: working like a professional studio, not guessing on set
  • Personalised feedback critique: each student pins their 6 best frames, group + instructor critique
  • Building all variants: white background, lifestyle, flat lay, and detail — for the same product
Week 2 Deliverable
Full product shoot (7 angles) for your chosen product · 2-light studio setup executed solo · personalised shot list template · critique-ready selection of 6 best frames
Week 03 · 2 Sessions · 6 hrs
Deliver — Post-Production, Pricing & Final Showcase
+
Session 5 — Post-production, colour grading & professional delivery
  • Lightroom fundamentals for product photography: exposure, colour, clarity, dehazing — in the right order
  • Building a consistent preset: one look across your entire product catalogue, batch-applied in seconds
  • Background removal, clipping paths, and retouching for e-commerce: when to and when not to
  • Export settings by use case: Shopify, Instagram, Amazon, print, and white-label client delivery
  • Client delivery workflow: folder structure, naming conventions, metadata, and watermarking policy
Session 6 — Final showcase, freelance masterclass & certificates
  • Each student presents: brief → setup → selections → retouched finals — 5 mins + structured feedback
  • Freelance product photography pricing: real rates per image, day rates, licensing, rush fees
  • Proposal and contract basics: what to include, what protects you, how agencies handle revisions
  • Portfolio case study: how to document, caption, and present product work on Behance and Instagram
  • Certificate ceremony, open studio time, and one-on-one next-step conversations
Final Deliverable — 100% Portfolio Ready
Complete product shoot (retouched & export-ready) · custom Lightroom preset built to your style · client-delivery folder · portfolio case study draft · Awesome Sauce Academy certificate

Built for anyone who
thinks visually

📸
Aspiring photographers & fresh graduates
You've learned composition from Instagram. This gives you the technical foundation, client process, and studio discipline that separates hobbyists from working professionals.
🛍️
D2C brand owners & product entrepreneurs
Your phone shoots decent photos, but your competitors look better. Learn to photograph your own products at a studio level — and understand every brief you'll ever give a photographer.
💼
Freelancers wanting to charge more
You're already taking money for photos. Now learn to shoot, retouch, and deliver at the standard that justifies ₹3,000–₹8,000 per image — and never undersell again.
📱
Social media & content creators
You post daily but the product shots feel inconsistent. Understand the system behind the frame — lighting, composition, grading — and make every post look intentional.

Co-Founder · Awesome Sauce Creative

Surbhit Krishna is the co-founder of Awesome Sauce Creative — one of Lucknow's most recognised branding and content agencies. Since 2019, he has led visual content production for clients across D2C, hospitality, real estate, fashion, and food — from Lucknow's local market to brands competing nationally.

He has built and directed product photography shoots for campaigns that ran across Amazon, Instagram, Swiggy, and Flipkart. The work he's overseen has moved product — not just filled feeds.

Frame & Light is built entirely from his actual shoot process. You're not learning from a textbook — you're learning the exact method used to deliver work that brands paid real money for.

Not just skills.
A complete body of work.

By the final session you'll have a full product photography portfolio ready to show any client, brand, or employer — shot, edited, and packaged to professional studio standards.

📁
A complete product shoot — not just a few nice frames
Hero shot, lifestyle, flat lay, detail macro, and packshot — all angles a real client brief requires, shot and retouched by you.
Your own Lightroom preset & editing style
A custom preset built over 3 weeks to match your aesthetic. Batch-apply it to an entire shoot in seconds — consistent, professional, yours.
📋
A shot list template you'll use every shoot
The same tool working studios use to plan shoots. Arrive knowing exactly what you're shooting — never blank-stare at a product again.
💬
Client delivery folder — ready to hand off
Organised, export-ready file structure. The professional standard brands expect when you deliver a job. First impressions matter after the shoot too.
📸
A portfolio case study for Behance or LinkedIn
Documented, captioned, and structured for publication. Tell the story of the shoot — not just the final image — so clients understand your process.

What past students
actually said

"

I came in shooting my products with an iPhone and a ring light, wondering why they looked flat. After session 2 I understood why. After session 6 I had clients. The light knowledge alone was worth 10x the fee.

The post-production session alone changed my life. I used to spend 3 hours on one image. I now batch-edit an entire shoot in 20 minutes and the consistency across a catalogue is something clients notice immediately.

I manage social media for 3 brands and always had to fight with vendors for usable photos. Now I brief photographers properly and shoot the assets myself when needed. The shot list template is something I use every single week.

The freelance pricing masterclass was a revelation. I was charging ₹300 per image. One month after the course I closed a project at ₹2,500 per image — same equipment, different positioning and process.

I sell handmade jewellery and my product photos were the weakest part of my brand. Now people DM me asking who shot my products. It's me. On a budget setup. With skills I learned in 18 hours across 3 weekends.

As a final-year design student I expected theory. What I got was 3 weekends in a real agency studio, a complete portfolio shoot, and the confidence to walk into a client meeting and talk about light like a professional.

Questions we
actually get asked

Do I need a DSLR or any professional camera? +
No. The course is taught to be gear-agnostic. If you have a DSLR, mirrorless camera, or even a high-end smartphone, you can participate fully. We teach you to maximise whatever you have, and the studio provides equipment for in-class shooting exercises. The skill is in the light and the eye — not the gear.
What product should I bring to shoot? +
Pick something you love or own a business selling — a skincare product, a food item, a garment, a handmade piece, or even just a beautiful object. We'll guide you through what works well before Day 1. The studio also has props and surfaces, so don't overthink it.
What days and times are the sessions? +
Cohort 1 runs on weekends — 2nd–3rd, 9th–10th, and 16th–17th May. Sessions are 11am to 12 noon each day. That's six sessions across three weekends, totalling 18 hours in the studio.
Where exactly is the studio? +
Awesome Sauce Creative Studio is located in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow (Vibhuti Khand). Exact address and parking details are shared with enrolled students. It's easily accessible from the main Gomti Nagar commercial area.
Do I need Lightroom? Is it expensive? +
We teach in Lightroom Classic but will also cover free mobile alternatives for students who prefer not to subscribe. The photography plan starts at approximately ₹699/month and is worth every rupee for working photographers. We'll help you decide what makes sense for your situation.
Can I miss a session and catch up? +
Each session builds on the previous one — the course is designed as a continuous project, not standalone classes. We strongly recommend attending all 6 sessions. If you miss one due to an emergency, we'll do our best to catch you up before the next, but consistent attendance is what makes the cohort experience work.
Will I get a certificate? +
Yes. Students who complete all sessions and submit their final portfolio project receive an official Awesome Sauce Academy certificate — signed, branded, and shareable on LinkedIn and Behance.
Is there a group rate or scholarship option? +
If you're enrolling as a team of 3 or more from the same organisation or brand, write to us for a group rate. We also reserve 1–2 seats per cohort for students who can't afford standard pricing — reach out to academy@awesomesauce.in with a short note about your situation.
